This year International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates two major anniversaries; 70 years since IMO Convention was adopted and 60 years since it entered into force. IMO theme for World Maritime Day this year is “IMO 70 : Our Heritage – Better Shipping for Better Future”.

This provides the opportunity to take stock and look back, but also to look forward, addressing current and future challenges for maritime transport to maintain a continued and strengthened contribution towards sustainable growth for all.

In conjunction with IMO celebration, Malaysia Ship owners’ Association (MASA) is pleased to inform that this year’s WMD celebration will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, on the 7th  until 9th August 2018. Malaysia World Maritime Week 2018 is a joint effort between the Malaysian government and the maritime industry. It is organised by the Ministry of Transport and the Marine Department, Malaysia (MARDEPT) and hosted by Malaysia Ship owners’ Association (MASA). The event will cover not only the official proceedings and a conference devoted to maritime issues, but also a number of accompanying cultural, sports and recreational events addressed to domestic and foreign guests and public.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) the event will gather more than 2,000 maritime professionals including high-level delegates from port authorities, industry leaders and maritime experts. An exciting week of events that includes the prestigious Malaysian World Maritime Week 2018. With activity aimed at local businesses plus a spectacular line up of focused maritime events and activities.
